Antique Auction Guide

Antique Auction

When it comes to antique items, a seller can either auction items directly or consign them to an auction house. Consigning them to an auction house makes the process much easier, as they provide services such as valuation, advertising, marketing, managing the bidding etc., in addition to providing a vast number of dealers and collectors who might be interested in your item. Items are first valued on the basis of rarity and age. The auction houses then prepare a catalogue description which includes all the information and the expected price of the collectable. The collectors are also allowed time to view and inspect the antique items, typically three to four days before the sale day. On the sales day, bidding can be done in person or online. It is important to note that the services offered by auction houses are chargeable.
